The Canadian MLS club Toronto submitted a formal offer to Racing Club for 28-year-old Argentinian winger Santiago Solari, who has recently lost his place in the team. The proposal was for a one-year loan with a $250,000 fee, a $2.5 million purchase obligation based on achievable objectives, and a 10% capital gain clause for Racing. The bid was rejected by Racing because the club considered the loan fee to be insufficient.
Although Solari had received several inquiries from abroad, this was the first formal offer. There is optimism that negotiations could resume if Toronto increases its proposed loan fee. Solari, who joined Racing in January 2024, has a contract until the end of 2027. His current market value is €3.20m, according to Transfermarkt. In the current 2025/2026 domestic league season, he has made 18 appearances, scoring 2 goals and providing 4 assists.
