A French recruiter for a Premier League club stated his belief that Lyon would have been open to selling 24-year-old United States defensive midfielder Tanner Tessmann this winter, explaining that the player has a good reputation in England but is not a suitable fit for Paulo Fonseca's system. The recruiter also noted that while Tessmann has positive physical data, the team's style of play may not be right for him.
Brentford approached the player, however, the move did not particularly interest Tessmann, who is under contract with Lyon until 2029. Tessmann joined Lyon in August 2024 and has made 23 appearances and scored one goal in Ligue 1 this season. The midfielder, who has 12 caps and one goal for the United States, has also been linked with Italian clubs Lazio and Fiorentina. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €12.00m.
