Representatives from Southampton were looking at Lechia Gdańsk's 24-year-old Slovakian striker Tomáš Bobček some time ago. The player is the current top scorer in the Ekstraklasa. Szymon Janczyk mentioned that Bobček has also drawn preliminary attention from other English clubs from the bottom of the Premier League and the Championship. Lechia Gdańsk is reportedly unwilling to sell the player for a low price. According to Dawid Dobrasz of Meczyki.pl, the club has already rejected a six-million-euro offer from FC Midtjylland. Karolina Jaskulska from Kanał Sportowy has suggested that the club expects at least 10 million euros for the striker.
The player's contract runs until mid-2027. Although the topic of a move to Southampton was discussed at one point, it did not result in a formal offer. Bobček joined Lechia in September 2023, has 2 caps and 1 goal for Slovakia, and has scored 14 goals and provided 4 assists in 18 Ekstraklasa appearances this season. His current market value is listed by Transfermarkt as €5.00m. In January 2026, a speculative offer of €7 million from a Premier League club linked to Sunderland was mentioned. In August 2025, Lechia's demands were reportedly as high as €12.5 million to €15 million.
