Celtic's 25-year-old Japanese forward, Shin Yamada, joined the German team Preußen Münster on loan during the winter transfer window to provide attacking options while the squad had numerous injuries. After initially playing as a substitute and making one start against Hertha Berlin, Yamada has had limited playing time in recent weeks as Münster is positioned near the bottom of the league standings.

Preußen Münster's sporting director, Jan Uphues, stated that the club had to act at the time of the signing because of numerous injuries. Uphues explained that with all players now fit, there is more competition in the squad. He acknowledged that Yamada has not had as many opportunities as he would have wanted recently but expressed certainty that the forward will get his chance in the remaining five matches in Bundesliga 2.

The loan is set to expire on June 30, 2026. This season, he has made five league appearances for Münster and eight for Celtic. Yamada, who has been capped once by Japan, has a current market value of €800k according to Transfermarkt.
