According to reports from English media, Schalke 04 are interested in signing Igor Júlio, a 28-year-old Brazilian centre-back, from Brighton & Hove Albion. The promoted club has concrete interest in the left-footed player and is pursuing a loan deal that includes a purchase option. The clubs are currently in negotiations, but an agreement is not yet considered close. However, sporting director Frank Baumann and squad planner Maximilian Lüftl are still trying to complete the transfer.
Igor Júlio joined Brighton from Florence in 2023 for €16.5 million and currently has a market value of €10 million, having previously been valued at €22 million a year and a half ago. He made 33 appearances in his debut season and played 17 times over the past two seasons under manager Fabian Hürzeler. His contract with Brighton runs until 2027, and other clubs linked with him include Cruzeiro and West Ham United.
