Roma close to finalizing loan deal for Giacomo Raspadori

The Italian forward is reportedly close to a transfer back to Italy just five months after his move from Napoli.

Atalanta is among the clubs that were pursuing Atlético de Madrid's 25-year-old Italian forward Giacomo Raspadori, who is close to returning to Italy just five months after his transfer from Napoli for €22 million plus potential bonuses. It is reported that AS Roma is close to finalizing a loan deal for the player for a €2 million fee, which would include a non-obligatory purchase option of €19 million. Roma's sporting director, Frederic Massara, accelerated negotiations with Atlético, which was prompted by interest from Lazio.

In addition to Atalanta, Galatasaray also showed interest, though it is said that Raspadori dismissed that possibility. It has been reported that the main advocate for the transfer to Roma has been their coach, Gian Piero Gasperini. The Italian international, who has 45 caps and 11 goals, has made 11 appearances in LaLiga this season, providing two assists and not scoring. His contract with the Spanish club is valid until 2030, and his current valuation according to Transfermarkt is €22.00m. Reports from December 2025 indicated that Roma had previously offered a €2 million loan with purchase options that ranged from €15 million to €20 million.
