Real Sociedad is exploring the signing of Edson Álvarez. The San Sebastián club has reportedly submitted a formal proposal to West Ham for the 28-year-old Mexican midfielder. Ajax is also competing for the player and wants him to return to Amsterdam.
To secure the deal, Real Sociedad has reportedly proposed a creative formula. The offer involves paying slightly more than €7.5 million for 50% of his federative rights, with variables that would allow additional percentages to be acquired progressively. West Ham values the player at approximately €15 million after its relegation and prefers a permanent transfer, but the proposal from the San Sebastián club has an advantage due to Ajax’s financial difficulties. Álvarez joined West Ham in August 2023, and his contract is valid until 2028. He has 103 caps and 7 goals for Mexico. For his club, he has made 59 Premier League appearances, scoring once. Other clubs, including FC Köln and Benfica, have also been linked with the player.
