Reading and their Thames Valley neighbours Oxford United are expected to approach 29-year-old Nigerian and English winger Fred Onyedinma if he departs Wycombe Wanderers this summer. Onyedinma is rumoured to have rejected a new contract with Wycombe, which would make him a free agent when his current deal expires on June 30.
It is anticipated that the player is set to leave, with Wycombe expected to release their retained list by May 16. A move to Reading would reunite Onyedinma with the Couhigs, under whom he played from 2019 to 2021, and with former teammate Joe Jacobson, who is now the club's CEO. If he were to choose Oxford, he would be reunited with former teammate and current head coach Matt Bloomfield, along with ex-Wycombe head coach Mike Dodds, who is now Bloomfield's assistant.
