Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo, a 25-year-old Welsh international, is close to joining Norwegian side SK Brann after he was no longer favoured by manager Danny Rohl, having made only three appearances this season. Brann had become interested in the player. Matondo, who was signed by former manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst and spent the latter part of last season on loan at Hannover 96, was reportedly not offered an extension to his contract which was due to expire in the summer.
An agreement has been reached for his departure, allowing him to leave the Ibrox club three months before his contract was set to end. Rangers will not receive a fee for the signing, but the deal could include bonuses in the future. The winger has 15 caps and one goal for Wales. According to Transfermarkt, he has a current market value of €1.00m. Norwich City and Cardiff City had also been linked with the player.
