Preston North End have reportedly agreed a deal to sign 23-year-old striker Johnny Kenny from Celtic for a fee said to be £3 million. The Republic of Ireland international, who has two senior caps, has apparently agreed to a four-year contract with the Championship club, which will conclude his time in Glasgow.
Preston secured the signing despite competition from both Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers, where Kenny returned from a loan spell that ended in June 2026. The transfer represents a significant profit for Celtic, who had purchased Kenny from Sligo Rovers for around £140,000 in January 2022. The forward had struggled for a regular role at Celtic, where his first-team opportunities were further reduced by the arrivals of Kasper Hogh and Camilo Duran. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €1.20m.
