Philadelphia Union are pursuing Brann's 25-year-old Danish defender Japhet Sery Larsen as a replacement for Jakob Glesnes, who recently departed for LA Galaxy. The MLS club has a strategy of recruiting from the Norwegian league and identified Larsen as their leading candidate after monitoring several players in the country's top division. Philadelphia Union have submitted a bid for the defender, which is now under consideration by Brann.
The American club views Larsen as a player capable of making an immediate impact, but the timing complicates matters for Brann. The club's ongoing participation in the Europa League makes it a difficult time to sell a key defender. Discussions between the two clubs are continuing. Larsen, who joined Brann in January 2023, has a contract until the end of 2026 and has been capped nine times for the Denmark U21 team. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €1.20m.
