There are people at Panathinaikos who would like to sign 28-year-old Greek centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos, reportedly preferring him over PAOK's Giannis Michailidis. Panathinaikos officials have begun to investigate the details of the case, but the defender's good performances for West Ham this season have made any potential deal more difficult.

Mavropanos has been linked with Olympiacos and there is good contact between Vangelis Marinakis and the player, though the financial aspect is also a significant obstacle for them. West Ham's demands currently start at 25 million euros, an amount which makes a transfer to any Greek league team extremely difficult. Mavropanos, who has 46 caps for Greece, joined West Ham in August 2023 for a transfer fee reported to be €20 million and his contract runs until 2028. His current market value is €18 million, according to Transfermarkt.
