Norwich are working on a deal to add 25-year-old Canadian and Ethiopian winger Ali Ahmed from Vancouver Whitecaps to head coach Philippe Clement's squad this month. The search for players is part of an effort to improve the club's standing in the Championship, and Ali Ahmed is one of several potential wide attacking targets under consideration. A deal has not yet been agreed, but Norwich have watched the Canadian international's performances in the MLS over an extended period.
Ali Ahmed has 22 caps and one goal for his country and recorded 11 assists and two goals in Vancouver's last season. He is primarily a left winger but is also able to play at left back or in a central role. In a previous interview with CBC Sports, his national team manager, Jesse Marsch, praised his footballing intelligence and running power. He joined the MLS club in November 2022, and his contract is valid until the end of 2026. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €4.00m. Schalke 04 have also been linked with the player.
