Newcastle United will intensify contact for FC Porto's 20-year-old winger William Gomes this summer, having identified him as a target to potentially replace Anthony Gordon, who has been linked with Bayern Munique. FC Porto are not expected to make a deal for the Brazilian easy, as he has a release clause of €80 million, though the club has set a minimum price of €50 million. Eduardo Burgos reports that Newcastle is increasing its interest and that Gomes is also attracting interest from other clubs, particularly from the Premier League and Spain.
Burgos adds that the player will not leave for less than €50 million and that a decision will be made after the World Cup. Gomes joined Porto in January 2025 and is under contract until 2029. In the 2025/2026 Liga Portugal season, he has recorded 8 goals and 1 assist in 24 appearances. The Brazil U17 international has a current market value estimated by Transfermarkt at €20.00m.
