In January 2025, Monza expressed interest in Serbian centre-forward Luka Jović, at the same time Monaco also showed interest in the player. This occurred while Panathinaikos was also considering a move, having held advanced discussions with Jović's representatives since late August 2024 for a potential transfer in that January window. The deal with Panathinaikos was contingent on the departure of Fotis Ioannidis, but the move for Jović did not proceed as Ioannidis remained with the club until the summer.
The 28-year-old eventually joined AEK Athens in August 2025 and is under contract until June 2027. In the 2025/2026 season, he has scored 11 goals in 16 league appearances. Jović, who has 50 caps and 11 goals for Serbia, has a current market value estimated by Transfermarkt at €6.00m.
