Monterrey's negotiations with Chicago Fire for the transfer of Hugo Cuypers are at an advanced stage. Monterrey already reached an agreement with the 29-year-old Belgian forward, and only the final details between Monterrey and Chicago Fire need to be settled to complete the transfer. Rayados considers Cuypers the ideal striker to strengthen their attack for the Apertura 2026. The club's management, led by Dennis Te Kloese and Walter Erviti, progressed in negotiations with the player and is confident that the agreement with Chicago Fire will be successfully completed in the coming days.
If the transfer is completed, Monterrey will add a striker with international experience, an ability to score goals, and extensive experience in European football and MLS. Cuypers, who joined Chicago Fire in February 2024, has a contract until the end of 2026 and a current Transfermarkt market value of €10.00m. He has scored 13 goals in 11 Major League Soccer appearances this season, and has also been linked with Real Sociedad.
