Milan, which is seeking to sign an experienced defender in the January transfer window, has made Fenerbahçe captain Milan Škriniar its primary target. Škriniar is a 30-year-old Slovakian international. He is familiar with Italian football from his time at Inter and is the strongest candidate for the role. Milan has also arranged a loan for West Ham United's Niclas Füllkrug to bolster its attack. A transfer for Škriniar is considered to be difficult because he is an indispensable team leader and regular starter for Fenerbahçe.
The defender joined permanently from PSG in the summer after an initial loan and has a long-term contract until 2029. So far this season, the Slovakian international has made 16 appearances and scored 2 goals in the Süper Lig. He has 87 caps for his country. Transfermarkt estimates his market value to be €11.00m. It is expected that both Škriniar and Fenerbahçe will reject any approach. Škriniar has previously turned down an offer from Juventus. Milan's list of alternatives reportedly includes Federico Gatti of Juventus and Eric Dier of Monaco. A move for Gatti is seen as unlikely, as neither the player nor his club is interested in a transfer.
