Middlesbrough consider move for Fashion Sakala

The former Rangers player is being monitored for a potential transfer back to British football.

Fashion Sakala, a 28-year-old Zambian international and former Rangers player, may return to British football. He joined the Saudi Pro League club Al-Fayha in 2023 in a deal valued at approximately £4m. Championship side Middlesbrough have been observing the wide attacker and are considering a move in the upcoming transfer window. Sakala's contract is set to expire in June, which would enable Middlesbrough to sign him for free. Such a transfer would result in Rangers not receiving a payment from a sell-on clause.

It has been reported that his performance in Saudi Arabia has drawn interest from other clubs in the UK and France. In the current season, he has made 21 appearances in the Saudi Pro League, scoring 10 goals and providing 3 assists. It is said that Sakala is very keen to play in the Premier League, and this could be a factor in convincing him to join Kim Hellberg’s side if they are promoted this season. The forward has made 38 appearances for Zambia, scoring 11 goals. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €3.80m.
