Legia Warszawa's failed bid for Arsenal's Karl Hein revealed

The Polish club's sporting director confirmed their interest in a transfer for the Estonian goalkeeper.

During the winter transfer window, Legia Warszawa was interested in signing Arsenal's 23-year-old Estonian goalkeeper Karl Hein, a fact confirmed by sporting director Michał Żewłakow in a conversation with the club's media. At the time, Hein was on loan at Werder Bremen, where he was not getting much playing time, having made two Bundesliga appearances this season, a situation the Polish club hoped to use to their advantage. Żewłakow revealed that Hein was their number one goalkeeping target. However, the deal was very difficult to complete.

Ultimately, the transfer was not completed, and Legia signed Otto Hindrich instead. The goalkeeper, who has 45 caps for Estonia, has a contract with Arsenal until June 2026 and a current Transfermarkt market value of €3.00m. Genoa has also been linked with a move for Hein.
