Kjell Scherpen, a 26-year-old Dutch goalkeeper for Royal Union Saint-Gilloise, could move to England, as Ipswich Town and Leeds United are both interested in him. Ipswich is reportedly in advanced discussions for the player, who is said to have already approved a move to the English promoted club. The clubs still need to reach a final agreement, and Union is seeking the highest possible sum.
Het Nieuwsblad reports that Union must give 40% of the resale value to Brighton, from which Union bought Scherpen for two million euros. A hypothetical ten million euro sale would therefore mean Union would receive 6.8 million euros. Scherpen has not yet been capped by the Netherlands and is under contract until June 2028. His current market value is €8.00m, according to Transfermarkt. His previous transfer was from Ajax to Brighton in July 2021 for a reported €5.0 million, and Beşiktaş reportedly had an offer for him rejected in February 2026.
