The Italian club could meet the German team's financial demands for a transfer but is also considering a loan deal that includes an option to buy next summer.
Mæhle, who has 59 caps and 12 goals for Denmark, is under contract until June 30, 2027. According to reports from May-June 2026, Wolfsburg's asking price for the player was between €4.7 million and €7.0 million. This amount is a decrease from the €13.0 million fee the club paid to Atalanta for his transfer in August 2023.
