Due to a defensive emergency resulting from an injury to a starting centre-back, Inter's Marotta and Ausilio are considering a January move for Liverpool's 26-year-old Ibrahima Konaté, which would accelerate a transfer that might otherwise have happened in the summer. The portal L'Interista reports, citing information from sources close to the club, that Liverpool might be open to selling the French defender for approximately 15 million euros to avoid his departure on a free transfer a few weeks later. The English club could potentially use the proceeds from the sale to pursue Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace.
Konaté, who joined Liverpool in July 2021, has made 15 Premier League appearances this season and has been capped 26 times for France. The defender has also recently been linked with several other top European clubs, including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain.
