Hibernian, Motherwell, and Championship sides Millwall, Stoke City, and Preston North End are among several clubs interested in Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan, who is a 36-year-old Scottish midfielder. Millwall are considered the leading contenders to sign him, and a formal approach was made for the midfielder on Saturday evening. The deal is expected to be finalised this week.
It is reported that the deal will involve the 36-year-old signing an 18-month contract with a significant wage increase. It is also believed that a verbal agreement is in place allowing Bannan to leave Sheffield Wednesday for Millwall on a free transfer. Bannan has been with Sheffield Wednesday since August 2015 and has 27 caps for Scotland. His current market value is listed by Transfermarkt at €200,000. It was also reported in January 2026 that a fee described as nominal would be sufficient to sign him.
