It is reported that Fulham has registered interest in 19-year-old German winger Said El Mala, and that other English clubs are also pursuing the transfer. It is uncertain whether Fulham can or will finance the transfer fee being sought by the German club, which has indicated that offers under 50 million euros are not being considered. A previous approach from Brighton & Hove Albion was blocked, and while they remain interested, talks are currently on hold. The player's mother, who is also his agent, contacted Brighton by phone to inquire about their position. Köln is also hopeful of a significant offer from FC Chelsea. It was reportedly suggested in exploratory talks that Chelsea might meet the valuation and loan the player back to Köln for a year.

FC Brentford is another club that has shown interest, but like Fulham, their willingness or ability to finance the transfer to meet Köln's requirements is questionable. Said El Mala has 7 caps and one goal for Germany's U21 team, joined Köln in July 2024, and is under contract until 2030. His current Transfermarkt market value is €35.00m. While Köln's asking price is €50 million, it has been reported that interested clubs are unwilling to pay over €40 million. Brighton had a €35 million bid rejected in April 2026.
