Fenerbahçe presidential candidate Aziz Yıldırım is seeking a left-footed defender to partner Milan Skriniar and has initiated a move for Nathan Aké. A team led by Oğuz Çetin identified the 31-year-old Manchester City player as the primary target. Associates of Yıldırım have made initial contact with the management company of the Dutch international and have also informed Aké about Fenerbahçe's interest. Negotiations are understood to have also commenced with Manchester City's management.
Aké is reportedly among the players expected to leave the club as part of a new restructuring under incoming manager Enzo Maresca, who is set to take over following Pep Guardiola's departure. The defender joined Manchester City in August 2020 and made 18 Premier League appearances in the 2025/2026 season. He has a contract until June 2027 and a current Transfermarkt market value of €15 million. Other clubs, including Crystal Palace and AFC Bournemouth, have also been linked with a move for him. Reports in May 2026 suggested an asking price for Aké that ranged from €10 million to £20 million, which is approximately €23 million.
