FC Utrecht is interested in signing 19-year-old German midfielder Niklas Swider on loan from Borussia Mönchengladbach. The Bundesliga club reportedly sees Swider as a player with a lot of potential but cannot offer him a starting place next season, making them willing to facilitate a loan. However, before any temporary move, Swider's contract, which has one more year remaining, must be extended. Besides Utrecht, there is also interest from Germany, with third-tier club Viktoria Köln reportedly among those interested in the midfielder.
It is not clear whether Swider is being considered for Utrecht's first team or their reserve team, which plays in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. Swider has four caps for the Germany U19 national team. In the 2025/2026 season, he made 22 appearances in the Regionalliga West, scoring one goal and providing three assists. His market value is currently estimated by Transfermarkt to be €250k.
