Lukas Nmecha is a potential candidate for 1. FC Köln, which is considering signing a new striker in the winter due to injuries to Ragnar Ache and Thijs Dallinga. Previous reports from England had linked the 27-year-old Leeds United forward, who joined the club in July 2025, with a possible return to the Bundesliga. The seven-time German international, who has yet to score for his country, is reportedly considering not extending his contract, which expires in the summer, because of a lack of playing time. A move back to Germany or to the second English league are considered possible destinations. Wrexham and Southampton have also recently been linked to the player.
A potential transfer to Köln in January could provide an earlier resolution. A signing would represent a significant financial commitment for Köln, as Nmecha is said to earn three million euros per year plus bonuses at Leeds. Leeds would likely require a small transfer fee, as Nmecha still receives regular, brief appearances for the Premier League club despite not being in the first team. His market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €10.00m.
