Everton is interested in Sporting CP's Morten Hjulmand, and the Portuguese club is aware of the interest from the Premier League side. Atlético de Madrid also holds a strong, long-standing interest in the 26-year-old Danish midfielder, who has 27 caps and one goal for his country. Although Hjulmand's contract, which runs until 2028, contains an €80 million release clause, Sporting has an agreement with the player to facilitate a transfer for offers starting at €40 million.
The player is understood to prefer a move to Spain over England. An understanding had been reached between Hjulmand and Atlético, a claim Sporting is unaware of, and Mundo Deportivo added that the Madrid club could potentially triple the midfielder's salary. Hjulmand joined Sporting in August 2023 from Lecce for a reported €18 million and recorded 3 goals and 4 assists in 27 Liga Portugal appearances in the 2025/2026 season; his current Transfermarkt valuation is €45.00m.
