Chicago Fire has expressed strong interest in signing 31-year-old attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva on a free transfer. The MLS club has reportedly held initial talks with the player's side, where a three-year contract with an annual salary of over ten million euros is being discussed. With his contract at Manchester City expiring in the summer, the move could allow the Portuguese player to fulfill a long-held desire for a new challenge.
Silva joined Manchester City from AS Monaco in the summer of 2017. He has made 437 official appearances for the club. In the current Premier League season, Silva has 2 goals and 4 assists in 22 appearances. He has earned 107 caps for Portugal, scoring 14 goals. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is estimated to be €27.00m. Several other clubs, including FC Barcelona and Galatasaray, have also been linked with the player. A release clause of approximately £50 million was widely reported throughout 2024 and 2025.
