Chelsea is one of several clubs interested in Grêmio's 21-year-old Brazilian Centre-Back Viery. Bologna, Fiorentina, and Nottingham Forest are also reportedly monitoring him. Fiorentina is said to have had an offer of 12 million euros rejected by the Brazilian club. Viery's contract with Gremio runs until December 2029 and contains a 50 million euro release clause.
Gremio needs to raise funds due to a debt of over 20 million euros from the last quarter and has consequently lowered its asking price. The club is now seeking a base fee of around 20 million euros, which could increase to a total of 25 million euros with bonuses or objectives. Viery joined Grêmio in February 2025 and has made 13 appearances in the Série A this season, scoring one goal. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €6.00m.
