Following comments from Erik Sviatchenko urging Celtic to explore the MLS transfer market, Orlando City's Duncan McGuire has been suggested as a potential signing for the club. The 25-year-old United States international is viewed as a suitable replacement for Daizen Maeda, who is reportedly set to leave this summer. McGuire is a winger who can also play upfront.
Despite being younger than Maeda, he is considered to have enough first-team experience to contribute immediately. His key attributes are described as an ability to attack space in the box, consistently find scoring positions, and contribute defensively by pressing centre-backs and increasing the team's intensity. McGuire, who has one cap for his country, joined Orlando City in December 2022 and has a contract until the end of 2027. Transfermarkt currently estimates his market value to be €2.50m.
