Celtic declined an opportunity to sign Sacha Boey from Bayern Munich on a season-long loan while needing a replacement for the injured Alistair Johnston. The club had previously made an offer for the 25-year-old French defender in 2021. It is understood that Celtic spoke with the player's representation and clarified the amount of his salary they were prepared to pay. Bayern Munich were open to the move and willing to accept a financial loss of approximately £2.7 million.

Celtic pursued a different target and signed Jordan Lotomba. Sacha Boey joined Bayern in January 2024, has a contract with the club until June 2028, and has a current market value of €10.00m, according to Transfermarkt. Fulham, Everton, and Galatasaray are among several other clubs that have been linked with the right-back. He originally transferred to Bayern from Galatasaray for a reported €30 million. In August 2026, Bayern's asking price for a permanent move was said to be €15 million.
