Burnley may be seeking a new goalkeeper in January as they search for a long-term first-choice goalkeeper after the struggles of Max Weiss, who has been replaced in the starting lineup. Balázs Tóth of Blackburn Rovers is considered a potential option. The 29-year-old's contract expires at the end of the season. A move in January seems increasingly likely because the Hungary international recently rejected a new contract with his club. He has 11 caps for his country.

Burnley might face competition for the player. The Scottish club Celtic showed interest in the summer and are expected to be interested again. Wolverhampton Wanderers and other Championship clubs are also considered potential interested parties for the goalkeeper, who might be available for a reduced fee. Blackburn Rovers' asking price was reportedly between £3 million and £4 million during the summer of 2026. The club is also said to have rejected a formal bid of £2.5 million from Celtic in September 2026. According to Transfermarkt, the player's current market value is €1.00m.
