Souza, a 20-year-old Brazilian former Santos left-back currently at Tottenham, has received a 20 million euro offer to join Benfica. The player's staff is seeking a move or a loan for Souza, who has made four appearances for the London club's first team since joining in January 2026, to help him gain more playing time in European football with the 2030 World Cup cycle as a goal.
The negotiation is not simple. Benfica's proposal is for Souza, who was the only Brazilian left-back nominated for the Golden Boy award. Although Tottenham has received inquiries from various interested parties, Benfica has submitted the only official offer to date. His former club, Santos, is entitled to 10% of his next sale, which would amount to R$ 11.6 million if the proposed terms are accepted. Souza has 12 caps for the Brazil U17 team and a contract with Tottenham until June 2031. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €12.00m.
