Belgian international Romelu Lukaku is reportedly set to leave Napoli because he reportedly desires to be a key player and is not interested in a substitute role for Rasmus Højlund. The Italian club is open to selling the 33-year-old striker for approximately ten to twelve million euros to lower its salary costs.
Atlanta United is interested in this opportunity, and Sacha Tavolieri reported that the American club is actively pursuing the striker. Discussions are in progress to see if Atlanta United can meet Lukaku's personal terms. The deal is in an early stage, and the MLS club has shown significant interest. Lukaku has scored 93 goals in 132 appearances for Belgium. He joined Napoli from Chelsea in August 2024 for a reported €30 million, and his current contract is valid until June 2027. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €6.00m. Other clubs that have been recently linked with him include Juventus, Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe.
