Tuttomercato reports that Atalanta is interested in acquiring Lazio's 24-year-old Italian midfielder Nicolò Rovella as a pivotal addition to their squad. Atalanta has identified Lazio's Nicolò Rovella as a priority target for the regista role, a position new coach Maurizio Sarri considers crucial, particularly after the sale of Ederson to Manchester United. Rovella is considered an ideal fit for the coach's tactical ideas because of his technical characteristics.
However, negotiations are difficult because Lazio is reluctant to sell the midfielder and has set a very high valuation. According to sources close to Lazio, club president Claudio Lotito has requested approximately 40 million euros for the transfer. Atalanta currently views this amount as too high, and this financial obstacle might lead the club to consider alternative options. Rovella, who has 4 caps for Italy, joined Lazio from Juventus in July 2025 for a reported fee of €17 million and is contracted until June 2028. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €23.00m.
