Aston Villa has made inquiries about 26-year-old North Macedonia international Eljif Elmas. The Birmingham-based club has not yet made an official offer. The midfielder is available after Napoli chose not to exercise a €17 million purchase option to make his loan from RB Leipzig permanent. The German club also rejected a lower offer of around €10-11 million from Napoli.
It is reported that Elmas wishes to continue his career in either Serie A or the Premier League and has already turned down a financially attractive proposal from Fenerbahce, making the interest from Aston Villa the most compelling option for him at present. The midfielder has 79 caps and 13 goals for his country, is under contract with RB Leipzig until 2028 and has a current Transfermarkt market value of €13.00m. In the 2025/2026 Serie A season, he made 33 appearances for Napoli, scoring 1 goal and providing 3 assists.
