Al Sadd, coached by Roberto Mancini, has targeted 30-year-old Italian defender Alessio Romagnoli and is closely monitoring his situation ahead of the summer. Romagnoli is under contract with Lazio until 2027. It is reported that the parties are far from reaching an agreement on a renewal. This is partly because the defender has been waiting for a contract adjustment and for promises made by president Lotito after the Champions League qualification to be fulfilled.
The Qatari club is considering an approach in the coming months to convince Romagnoli to move. Al Sadd would like to take action during the summer transfer window to prevent the possibility of the defender being free to sign with another club on a free transfer from the following year. Romagnoli, who joined Lazio in July 2022, has 13 caps for Italy and has made 17 appearances in Serie A this season. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €7.00m.
