Al Ittihad prepared to let Fabinho leave this January

A potential transfer for the Brazilian midfielder is complicated by his €24 million per season salary.

Al Ittihad is prepared to let Fabinho leave in the January transfer window to reduce expenses and invest in younger talent. Both Vasco da Gama and Palmeiras are interested in the 32-year-old Brazilian midfielder, but a transfer is complicated by his €24 million per season salary. Fabinho has six months remaining on his contract, which runs until June 2026, and is owed €12 million. It is considered unlikely that he would waive this amount, and Al Ittihad is not expected to pay his remaining contract in full and then release him for free.

A return to Brazil would require Fabinho to accept a significant salary reduction, making Europe a more probable destination if an agreement for his exit can be reached. The 30-cap Brazil international joined Al-Ittihad from Liverpool in July 2023 for a fee reported to be €46.0M. In the current Saudi Pro League season, he has made 8 appearances and provided one assist. His market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €13.00m.
